Alexandros “Alexi” Diplas has represented leading global companies in complex commercial disputes in federal and state courts, arbitration proceedings, and contested matters arising out of corporate restructurings. His practice spans a broad spectrum of commercial litigation, including breach of contract, products liability, employment, and bankruptcy disputes, and he has served as counsel to clients in industries such as financial services, investment management, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, cosmetics, technology, and real estate. Many of his matters have involved claims exceeding hundreds of millions of dollars, with outcomes that have enabled his clients to secure significant recoveries or avoid substantial liability. His work has helped shape important precedent in areas such as ballot eligibility for plan confirmation in mass tort bankruptcies and the application of international treaties in U.S. courts.

In addition to litigation, Alexi has conducted, and advised companies on, internal investigations into alleged misconduct by directors and officers, including in connection with potential claims for breach of fiduciary duty and corporate waste.

Before co-founding Betts Diplas PLLC, Alexi practiced in the Complex Commercial Litigation and Product Liability & Mass Tort groups at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP in New York City. He also completed a secondment to Morgan Stanley’s Wealth Management division, during which he handled litigation, arbitration, and regulatory enforcement matters before FINRA and state regulators. In that role, he managed a diverse docket of arbitrations and investigations, defending financial advisors in securities-related disputes involving claims for breach of fiduciary duty, negligence, and unauthorized trading, and successfully pursuing expungement relief on their behalf.

From 2019 to 2020, Alexi served as a law clerk to the Honorable Joshua D. Wolson of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
